This article applies to VideoDrive 3.0 and 3.1 and is no longer maintained. There is an updated article for VideoDrive 3.2 and higher.
VideoDrive offers an option to remux compatible H.264 tracks. This allows for faster video imports as video and/or audio already compatible with iTunes will not be converted again, saving time. You can enable the option on the Conversions tab of Preferences.
if the option is greyed out, you will need to install Subler first by clicking the Install button next to it.
Additionally, you may need to download an audio codec to handle stereo and 5.1 surround sound from A52 and AC-3 audio. This type of audio is often found in DVD movies. If this codec is not present, VideoDrive will warn you as without the codec, your resulting iTunes videos might be missing audio.
Install missing codec
Note: In VideoDrive 3.2 and higher, this installation is done automatically and you should only follow these steps in case of troubleshooting.
Step 1) Download the A52codec from the Aroona Software download server.
Step 2) Unzip the A52codec.component file and move it to /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components. This folder is hidden by default. You can move the codec by running the following command from the terminal line:
sudo mv ~/Downloads/A52Codec.component /Library/Audio/Plug-ins/Components
Done! Whenever Videodrive is now encountering a video file that has compatible tracks, it will preserve them instead of converting them.
